Program Commitment & Refunds

Joining the program is a commitment.

Once a student enters the program, substantial resources may already have been committed to program administration, school arrangements, placement, host-family coordination and student support.

Important

Voluntary Withdrawal

If a participant voluntarily leaves the program, payments already made may be non-refundable under the applicable Program Agreement.

Voluntary withdrawal means the participant chooses to leave the program before completion. Before confirming that decision, review the withdrawal procedure and financial provisions in the student’s signed agreement and applicable program terms.

Before You Decide

Before deciding to withdraw

Families should contact the appropriate program team before making a final decision. Concerns involving adjustment, school, placement or the host family should first be communicated through the established support process whenever appropriate.

For local school, placement, host-family or adjustment concerns, the Local / Area Representative is the first-line contact to understand, communicate and assess the situation. The North American Program Team coordinates further program follow-up when needed. Using this process does not guarantee a placement change or a refund.

Program termination for cause

A program may provide for termination when a participant breaches applicable conduct or participation requirements. The grounds, decision-making process and financial consequences are governed by the applicable Program Agreement. Where that agreement provides for no refund following removal for cause, payments already made will not be refunded under those terms. Termination for cause is distinct from a participant’s voluntary decision to withdraw; this guide does not establish additional grounds for termination or a separate refund policy.

School withdrawal

Leaving a school and leaving a program may involve separate procedures. Families should clarify both with the appropriate school and program contacts before taking action. Any effect on tuition, program fees or continued participation is subject to the student’s signed agreement and applicable program terms; school withdrawal should not be assumed to create a right to a refund.

Placement-related concerns

Communicate host-family or placement concerns to the Local / Area Representative for assessment through the established support process. Personal preference is different from a material concern about the placement. Raising a concern does not itself guarantee relocation, release from program commitments or a refund. Any further action follows the applicable program procedures and required approvals.

Costs arising from early departure

Before arranging an early departure, families should clarify any travel changes and other departure-related costs for which they may be responsible under the applicable agreement and program terms. Where the applicable Program Agreement makes the family responsible for additional expenses following early dismissal, those costs remain the family’s responsibility under that agreement. This guide does not set additional fees, deductions or non-refundable amounts.

Please Remember

The signed agreement governs

Specific refund rights and financial responsibilities are subject to the student’s signed agreement and applicable program terms. This page is general guidance, not a replacement for those documents, and does not create or expand refund conditions.
