STAGE 01 OF 06

Student Selection

A successful experience begins with understanding the student as a whole person: their readiness, outlook and willingness to grow in a new community.

Readiness beyond grades

Programs are mainly intended for students approximately 14.5–18.5 years old. Exact age requirements and the date used to assess age vary by program. Academic records help us understand a student’s learning background, but selection also considers their readiness for everyday life and cultural exchange.

Health, outlook and emotional readiness

Students should be in good physical health, have a positive outlook and demonstrate emotional stability appropriate to living away from home. Understanding health and wellbeing needs early helps the team discuss whether a particular environment and its available support are suitable.

Independence and respect for shared expectations

Basic independence means being able to manage everyday routines, take responsibility for schoolwork and belongings, respect school and household rules, and ask for help when needed. Students should be willing to listen, communicate and adapt when things feel unfamiliar.

Language and cultural curiosity

Students should have a sincere interest in cultural exchange and be ready to participate in a new school and community. They must complete and meet the relevant language assessment requirements for their intended program. We explain the assessment and discuss any preparation needs with the family.
